The Western Azerbaijan Community (WAC) has strongly condemned the baseless and slanderous statement made by the Armenian Ministry of Foreign Affairs on January 15, alleging that the Azerbaijan SSR committed atrocities against Armenians.
In a statement released by the WAC, it was emphasized that Armenia itself is the state that carried out ethnic cleansing. The notorious speech by Levon Ter-Petrosyan in 1993, whose rule coincided with the occupation of Azerbaijani lands and the period when most of the ethnic cleansing of Azerbaijanis took place, is further confirmation that this is Armeniachr("39")s state policy.
The community said Ter-Petrosyanchr("39")s speech indicates that the resettlement of Armenians from the Azerbaijan SSR was organized by Armenia itself. The WAC called on the Armenian government to end its racist and mono-ethnic policies, create conditions for the return of Western Azerbaijanis, and restore the multinational environment in the area.
