
Russia and Azerbaijan have significant potential to increase their mutual trade turnover to $8 billion per year, Valentina Matviyenko, Chairwoman of the Russian Federation Council, said at the 22nd session of the Interparliamentary Cooperation Commission, Olaylar informs.
"Russia and Azerbaijan have great opportunities for trade growth. We can reach not only $4 billion but also as much as $8 billion per year. This will allow us to overcome any problems and obstacles. We are grateful to Azerbaijan for its balanced policy and commitment to multilateral cooperation with Russia," Matviyenko said.
The Chairwoman of the Federation Council also emphasized the importance of climate change issues.
"This issue concerns all of us. <...> I would like to specifically invite our Azerbaijani colleagues to participate in the 11th Nevsky Environmental Congress," she noted.
Additionally, Matviyenko highlighted the successful cooperation between Russia and Azerbaijan in the tourism sector, pointing out that Azerbaijani investors are actively investing in Russian resorts.
"The number of tourists is growing in both directions, and the absence of a language barrier along with friendly relations contributes to the development of tourism," she added.
