MEDIA: Disseminated fake information is part of a disinformation campaign against Azerbaijan

A fake video address of the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan, created using "deep-fake" technologies, was posted on a number of social media accounts, and fake information was spread on behalf of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs regarding the crash of an Azerbaijan Airlines passenger plane in Aktau, which does not reflect the truth, Media Development Agency of the Republic of Azerbaijan said in a statement, APA reports.

"We would like to firmly state that these fake pieces of information, which do not reflect any reality, are part of a disinformation campaign aimed at interfering with Azerbaijan's information environment in a centralized manner.

Calling on the public to believe only the information provided by official sources, we remind you that the official website and social media accounts of the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan are always active and promptly cover the activities of the head of state. At the same time, you can obtain relevant information expressing the official position of the state from the official website and social media accounts of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Azerbaijan.

We once again call on Azerbaijani citizens, journalists, and public activists to always demonstrate a principled position against such cases and to remain vigilant in a situation where campaigns based on false and misleading information are gaining momentum," the statement reads.
