Ka Ubuntu movement leader: We must continue our struggle against France and expel this country from all its colonial territories

"We want to be free from formal 'independence.' We have no other goal. We must continue our struggle against France and expel this country from all its colonial territories," Romain Catambara, the chairman of the Ka Ubuntu independence movement for the struggle for independence, said at the international conference "Independence of Reunion: A Look at France's Colonial Heritage and the Path to Sovereignty" in Baku, APA reports.

The speaker added that freedom from Western imperialism’s dominance is of great importance for colonial states: "Our organization fights for the independence of colonies in Africa. The most important thing for us is to be free from formal 'independence' and to gain real independence, as well as to wage an effective struggle against imperialism. Our presence here is significant in terms of the struggle we are waging against France. France creates tension in the countries it keeps under colonial rule. For many years, our people, our ancestors have fought for independence. We are working to show that 'Ka Ubuntu' is the successor of that movement. The Pan-African movement is one that has enabled African peoples to gain independence. As Reunion, we strive to join the ranks of independent world states and free ourselves from Western imperialism’s dominance. Our country is a country that serves to maintain influence for France. France still keeps the Madagascar islands under its control. Today, France claims to be a country of democracy and human rights, but this is not true. The 'Ka Ubuntu' organization works to free colonial countries from colonial conditions. We believe that we must continue our struggle against France and expel this country from all its colonial territories. We do not need their administration. We are working to ensure the right to education and healthcare for our people."
