Azerbaijan, Qatar held political consultations -PHOTO

On January 26, 2025, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Azerbaijan Yalchin Rafiyev paid a visit to the State of Qatar, Ministry of Foreign Affairs told APA.

According to a report, the 5th meeting of political consultations between the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Azerbaijan and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the State of Qatar was held within the framework of the visit. The political consultations were led by Deputy Foreign Minister Yalchin Rafiyev from the Azerbaijani side, and by State Minister for Foreign Affairs Sultan bin Saad bin Sultan Al Muraikhi from the Qatari side.

During the consultations, bilateral political and economic issues, cooperation within the framework of the UN, the Non-Aligned Movement and other international organizations were discussed. Views were also exchanged on a number of regional and global issues of common interest. Areas of cooperation in trade, investment, agriculture, tourism, education and other areas were discussed.

Deputy Minister Yalchin Rafiyev also met with Ahmad Al-Sayed, Minister of State for Foreign Trade Affairs of the State of Qatar, as part of the visit. The meeting noted the need to hold the next meeting of the Intergovernmental Joint Commission between Azerbaijan and Qatar as soon as possible, as well as to organize mutual trade missions and business forums.

During his visit to Doha, Yalchin Rafiyev also visited the Center for Conflict and Humanitarian Studies (CHS) and met with the Center's director, Ghassan Elkahlout, and its experts. During the meeting, views were exchanged on Azerbaijan's foreign policy and the events taking place in the South Caucasus and the Middle East regions.

In addition, Yalchin Rafiyev met with the leadership, faculty, and students of the Center for International and Regional Studies (CIRC) at Georgetown University in Qatar. The Deputy Minister informed the listeners about Azerbaijan's foreign policy priorities, Azerbaijan's views on regional and global issues, as well as the post-conflict Armenia-Azerbaijan period, the normalization process, and the restoration and reconstruction work carried out in the liberated territories of Azerbaijan, and answered the participants' questions.
