Prosecutor General: Achieving of concrete results to determine cause of AZAL plane crash to be ensured in a short period of time

“Investigations into the crash of an AZAL plane are ongoing,” Prosecutor General of Azerbaijan Kamran Aliyev said at a board meeting held at the Prosecutor General's Office today, APA reports.

Kamran Aliyev noted that a State Commission was established by the President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev under the leadership of the Prime Minister to investigate the causes of the incident, and a criminal case was initiated on the instructions of the head of state in connection with the fact of the Embraer 190 aircraft J2-8243, which was operating the Baku-Grozny flight of Azerbaijan Airlines (AZAL), crashing near the city of Aktau as a result of external physical and technical interference in Russian airspace at the end of last year, which was considered a great tragedy for Azerbaijan and its people.

The Prosecutor General noted that investigative actions are currently being carried out in cooperation with the prosecutor's offices and other relevant agencies of the Republic of Kazakhstan and the Russian Federation to determine the true causes of the incident. Achieving of concrete results will be ensured in a short period of time.
