Baku hosts final exhibitions of Spirit of Reading National Art Contest [PHOTOS]

Khatai Arts Center has opened final exhibitions as part of the Spirit of Reading National Art Contest, Azernews reports.

The art competition was announced among children, teenagers and young people in order to preserve the tradition of illustration, which adds colour and life to books. Most of the presented works are characterized by illustrations and miniature works that reflect scenes and episodes from folk and children's literature, author's works, as well as literary works on the theme of nature and everyday life.

The participants of the competition include children, teenagers, young people and representatives of older age groups. Works created jointly with teachers and parents in accordance with the rules of the project are also presented.

Over 1,500 participants from various parts of our country sent about 2,000 works to participate in the competition. More than 1,100 works by 900 authors were selected during the preliminary selection. Around 100 artworks will be awarded 1st, 2nd and 3rd places, as well as incentive and nomination awards.

The jury included People's Artist, Professor, Arif Huseynov; an artist-educator at the Khatai Arts Center Gunduz Habibov; a senior lecturer at the Azerbaijan State Academy of Fine Arts Vafadad Bakharov; a lecturer at the Azerbaijan State Academy of Fine Arts Jalal Aghayev; an artist-educator at School of Arts No. 2 in Baku, Ilham Ismayilov; a lecturer at the Azerbaijan State Academy of Fine Arts Samir Sadikhov; a senior teacher at Azerbaijan University of Culture and Arts Zakir Jabbarov.

The project was implemented by the Azerbaijan Artists' Union, the State Art Gallery, Khatai Children's Art Gallery and the Khatai Arts Center with the support of the Azerbaijan Ministry of Science and Education, Azerbaijan State Academy of Fine Arts, Azerbaijan Television and Radio Broadcasting CJSC, and Khatai District Executive Authority.
