"US President Donald Trump is ready to go to the US Supreme Court in his demand to cancel birthright citizenship," said White House Press Secretary Caroline Leavitt at a briefing for journalists, APA reports citing TASS.
"This administration believes that birthright citizenship is unconstitutional," Leavitt said. "And we are prepared to fight this all the way to the Supreme Court if we have to, because Trump believes this is a necessary step to secure our borders and protect our homeland."
In addition, the White House press secretary reported that the Washington administration has already filed an appeal against the lawsuits of a number of American states that oppose Trump’s corresponding decree.
