The letter from the Western Azerbaijan Community (WAC) addressed to UN Secretary-General António Guterres has been circulated as an official document of the UN General Assembly and Security Council, the community said in a statement.

WAC sent a letter to Guterres regarding the speech made by Levon Ter-Petrosyan during his tenure as president of Armenia in 1993.

"In that speech, Levon Ter-Petrosyan confirmed that ethnic cleansing and occupation of Azerbaijani territories were the state policy of Armenia, and called the expulsion of Azerbaijanis from Armenia a historic achievement. Our letter to the UN Secretary-General regarding this exceptional evidence, confirming that Armeniachr("39")s state policy is racist and criminal against humanity and peace, was circulated as an official document of the UN General Assembly and Security Council, which is of great importance in terms of recognizing Armeniachr("39")s responsibility for these crimes at the international legal level," the statement says.

The Western Azerbaijan Community continues its efforts to bring this issue to the attention of not only the UN but also regional organizations and international non-governmental organizations that call themselves the human rights defenders.
