Community: EU's extended mission operates in ancestral lands of deported Western Azerbaijanis

The European Unionchr("39")s (EU) extended mission is operating in regions from which Western Azerbaijanis were deported, Ulviyya Zulfigar, Head of the Public Relations Department of the Western Azerbaijan Community, told Olaylar.

According to Zulfigar, the EU mission, now extended for an additional two years until February 19, 2027, is active in territories where Western Azerbaijanis were forcibly expelled.

"The areas where mission representatives are monitoring Azerbaijanchr("39")s border with binoculars are the historical ancestral lands of Western Azerbaijanis. The EU mission, which claims to be committed to human rights, has never expressed a position or made a statement about Western Azerbaijanis who were forcibly deported from these lands. Instead, it has been remembered for its provocative actions against Azerbaijan. This raises questions about the true purpose of this institutionchr("39")s mission," Zulfigar stated.

The spokesperson also pointed out that the Western Azerbaijan Community had previously urged the EU mission to be fair and to express a position regarding the return of deported Azerbaijanis to their territories.

"We once again call on this mission to refrain from actions aimed at destabilizing the region and to take a fair position on the return of Western Azerbaijanis."
