Convicted and detained individuals are using their right to vote in municipal elections, this was stated by the Penitentiary Service of the Ministry of Justice, APA reports
According to the information, in connection with the upcoming municipal elections in the Republic of Azerbaijan, certain convicted individuals and detainees, including those sentenced to imprisonment for a limited period of life, as well as military personnel serving compulsory active duty in the Guard Regiment, are exercising their electoral rights just like any other citizen of Azerbaijan.
For this purpose, an appropriate election environment has been created in the institutions under the Penitentiary Service, and the polling stations are equipped with the necessary equipment and technical means, just like all other election stations.
Convicted and detained individuals cast their votes freely and independently at 26 polling stations covering 13 constituencies in penitentiary institutions.
The voting process is being monitored by observers.
