Azerbaijan's NOC officially appealed to the IOC regarding the deterioration of the quality of medals from Paris Olympics

The National Olympic Committee of Azerbaijan (NOC) has officially appealed to the International Olympic Committee (IOC), NOC press service has released a statement in this regard, APA reports.

It was emphasized that 7 athletes from the Azerbaijani Olympic team won medals in judo, taekwondo, boxing, Greco-Roman and freestyle wrestling at the XXXIII Summer Olympic Games held in the French capital, Paris.

Two of the medals were gold, 2 were silver, and 3 were bronze. The Olympians, who successfully performed and won awards in Paris, appealed to the National Olympic Committee this month regarding the deterioration of the quality of the medals.

The National Olympic Committee conducted an investigation based on the athletes' appeal, and as a result, it was found that there were noticeable changes in the medals of five athletes, except for the Olympic judo champion Hidayat Heydarov (73 kg) and freestyle wrestling bronze medalist Magomedkhan Magomedov (97 kg).

As a result of these investigations, the National Olympic Committee has sent an official appeal to the International Olympic Committee. After receiving a response from the IOC, further steps will be taken to return the medals and replace them with new ones.
